1923 - First Option Bank, formerly known as First National Bank, was chartered as a federal bank and opened for business in Osawatomie, Kansas.
1970 - Ted E. Lewis purchased the bank. The bank still operates under the ownership of the Lewis family today.
1975 - A new facility was built and opened for business at 601 Main in Osawatomie.
1993 - The First Option Bank office opened in Paola, Kansas.
1999 - The bank name is changed to First Option Bank with a desire to create an image and identity separate from over 50 First National Banks in Kansas at that time.
1999 - The bank converted from a national to a state charter.
2000 - First Option Bank opened an office in LaCygne, Kansas in May.
2000 - The Louisburg, Kansas First Option Bank location opened in August.
2007 - The Spring Hill, Kansas First Option Bank location opened in September.
2009 – Trust Services were added.
2018 – Financial Services wing constructed at the Paola location, combining Trust and Investment Services.
2019 - First Option Bank purchased Pony Express Community Bank adding 4 branches - Elwood, St Joseph, Horton, and Troy.
